Bali Discount Cards Compared: Are Any of Them Worth It?

Phone showing discount offers beside a coffee on a table in Bali

Short answer: paid discount cards in Bali can work, but only under specific conditions — you are staying long enough, and the partner venues are in your area and are places you would go anyway. Most people who buy one are on a two-week holiday, use it four times, and lose money.

And before you buy anything: the largest discounts in Bali are free. Monthly and weekly rates 30–50% below drop-ins, the 1–4pm spa window at 30–50% off, the 4–7pm happy hour window. Those come from asking, not from a membership fee.

Last checked: 12 August 2026. This page compares models, not named products with specific prices — card fees and partner lists change constantly, and a fixed comparison table would be wrong within a season.

The four models

Model How it works Typically costs Best for
Paid discount card Annual or one-off fee, show card at partner venues for % off or 2-for-1 Fixed upfront fee Residents who eat out often in a covered area
Membership app Subscription, offers filterable in-app, sometimes with a partner network Monthly or annual Long stays, if the partner density is right
Venue loyalty Free, per-venue: tenth coffee, class packs, regular discounts Free Everyone, and underused
Live deal directory Free, no membership, shows what venues are discounting now Free Anyone; no break-even to clear

The only calculation that matters

Ignore the advertised "save up to X" number. It assumes you use every partner, which nobody does.

Break-even = card fee ÷ realistic saving per use

Worked example: a card costing the equivalent of 300,000 IDR, saving roughly 40,000 IDR per qualifying visit, needs about eight qualifying visits before it earns you anything. The question is not whether the discounts are real — they usually are — it is whether you will genuinely make eight visits to those specific venues.

Then apply three filters:

  1. How many partners are in the area you actually live in? A card with 400 partners island-wide and eleven in Pererenan is an eleven-partner card for you.
  2. Would you go to those venues anyway? A discount that redirects you somewhere you did not want to go is not a saving, it is marketing working.
  3. How long are you staying? Under three weeks, almost nothing clears break-even.

The fine print that decides it

Ask these before paying, and the answers are frequently in a FAQ rather than on the sales page:

  • Do offers exclude what you actually order? Alcohol, promotions, set menus and delivery are commonly excluded.
  • Does it stack with happy hour? Usually not — and the happy hour is often the better deal.
  • Is there a minimum spend to trigger the discount?
  • Is the partner list current? This is the big one. Partner lists go stale as venues close or drop out, and a list published a year ago is not what you are buying.
  • Expiry and validity period. Annual cards bought in month five of a six-month stay are half a card.
  • One use per venue, or unlimited?
  • Does it work at the branch near you, or only the flagship?

What you get for free by asking

This is the part that makes most paid cards look thin. Every one of these is available to anyone, at any time, with no fee:

Free discount Typical saving
Monthly rate on a scooter vs daily 40–60%
Monthly gym membership vs drop-ins 30–50% at 4+ sessions/week
Weekly pass / class pack at gyms and studios 25–50%
Coworking weekly rate vs five day passes 20–40%
Spa in the 1–4pm window vs 6pm 30–50%
Happy hour 4–7pm (and 9–11pm in Seminyak) Up to 50%
Hotel pool day pass vs beach club minimum spend 40–60%
Villa monthly vs nightly 40–60%
Long stay (6+ months) vs monthly Further 20–30%

Nobody volunteers any of these. The sentences that unlock them are: "Is there a monthly rate?", "Is there a weekly pass or class pack?" and "Do you have an afternoon price?"

When a paid card genuinely makes sense

Being fair to the model — it works when:

  • You are staying six months or more in one area.
  • The partner list is dense in your neighbourhood, not island-wide.
  • You eat out or drink out several times a week at mid-range venues, which is exactly the tier cards cover best.
  • The card includes something with a hard value you would buy anyway — some bundle things like data or transport credit.
  • You check the partner list against your actual week before buying, not after.

It does not make sense for a one or two-week trip, for someone cooking at home, or for someone whose spending is concentrated in rent, coworking and gym — where the free monthly rates already give you a bigger discount than any card.

The honest negatives of the whole category

  • Stale partner lists are the number one complaint across every product in this space.
  • The advertised savings figure is a maximum-usage fantasy.
  • Exclusions on alcohol and promotions remove the categories where discounts matter most.
  • Cards push you toward partner venues, which quietly narrows where you eat.
  • Annual pricing on a three-month stay is poor value by design.
  • Support and refunds are variable when a partner has closed.

Where this leaves you

The honest position: check the free discounts first. If you are asking for monthly rates, weekly passes and afternoon spa slots, you are already capturing 30–50% on the largest lines in your budget — rent, transport, fitness, wellness — which no card touches.

Then, if you are here long-term and eat out constantly in an area with dense partner coverage, run the break-even calculation on a card. If it clears comfortably, buy it. If it is marginal, it will not be worth the friction of remembering to use it.

What we do instead

Last Call Bali is free and has no membership, because we do not take a percentage of what you spend. We list what venues across Canggu, Pererenan, Ubud, Seminyak, Uluwatu and Sanur are discounting right now — happy hours, day passes, spa slots, 2-for-1 offers — and connect you straight to the venue on WhatsApp.

No commission, no booking fee, no card details, no account, and no break-even to clear before it starts being worth it. The venue keeps 100% of what you spend, which is exactly why they tell us today's real price. See how it works.

How this page is verified

We deliberately compare models rather than named products with prices. Card fees, partner counts and offer terms in this category change frequently, and a comparison table naming specific products would be out of date within a season — which is precisely the failure mode this page is warning about.

We also have an obvious interest here, since we run a free alternative. So this page gives you the break-even calculation and the checklist to judge any product for yourself, including ours, rather than telling you which one wins. The free discounts listed above are available whether or not you use anything we make.
