Short answer: a commercial gym in Bali is 1,200,000–2,000,000 IDR a month and drop-ins are 100,000–150,000 — so three sessions a week at the drop-in rate already costs more than a membership. Yoga drop-in is 130,000–180,000, falling to roughly 100,000–130,000 per class on a multi-class pass. Massage is 120,000–300,000 for 60 minutes, and the empty 1–4pm window runs 30–50% cheaper than 6pm for the identical treatment.
The theme of this entire page: drop-in pricing in Bali is a tax on not asking.
Last checked: 12 August 2026. Prices in Indonesian rupiah. Canggu and Seminyak run at the top of each band; Ubud and Sanur lower.

The three discounts nobody puts on a website
1. The multi-class or weekly pass. Nearly every gym, yoga studio and pilates room in Bali prices a 5-class, 10-class or weekly pass 30–50% below the equivalent drop-ins. It is offered at the desk, in person, when you ask. It is frequently absent from the website and the booking app entirely.
The question is literally: "Is there a weekly pass or a class pack?" Ask it every single time.
2. The dead-hour spa slot. Between roughly 1pm and 4pm, every massage therapist in Bali is idle. A 60-minute treatment that costs 250,000 IDR at 6pm is routinely 130,000–180,000 in that window at the same place. Some venues have a formal afternoon rate; most just say yes when asked.
3. The month you did not commit to. Gyms discount a three-month prepay by another 15–25% over monthly. If you know you are staying, say so at the counter rather than renewing monthly three times.
The arithmetic that decides it
| Pattern | Monthly cost at drop-in | Monthly cost on the right product |
|---|---|---|
| Gym 3×/week | 1,200,000–1,800,000 | 1,200,000–2,000,000 (membership) — about even |
| Gym 5×/week | 2,000,000–3,000,000 | 1,200,000–2,000,000 — membership wins clearly |
| Yoga 3×/week | 1,560,000–2,160,000 | 1,200,000–1,560,000 (class pack) |
| Yoga daily | 3,900,000–5,400,000 | 2,000,000–3,500,000 (unlimited) |
| Massage weekly at 6pm | 480,000–1,200,000 | 520,000–720,000 (afternoon slots) |
The break-even is around three sessions a week. Below that, drop-ins are fine and give you flexibility. At or above it, you are paying a premium for no reason.
By area
Canggu / Berawa — the best in Bali, by a distance. Two large commercial gyms (Body Factory, S2S), multiple pilates studios, Muay Thai, CrossFit-style boxes, and the island's only real recovery scene: ice baths, saunas, contrast therapy, physio. If fitness is a serious part of your week, this is where to base.
Ubud — the yoga answer. The Yoga Barn runs 15+ classes a day and is the anchor; Radiantly Alive is the smaller, calmer alternative. Sound healing, breathwork, Balinese healers, and treatment depth you will not find on the coast. Gyms are fewer and smaller. Massage is slightly more expensive than Canggu at the good places and better.
Seminyak — the spa tier. International-standard spas, treatments at 400,000–1,500,000 IDR, and correspondingly the widest gap between the 6pm price and the afternoon price. Gyms are decent, fewer than Canggu.
Uluwatu and Sanur — thin. A handful of small gyms and studios. Surfing does most of the work on the Bukit; in Sanur, the flat boardwalk makes running and cycling genuinely good. For anything structured you will ride to Canggu.
Recovery, which Bali is unusually good at
- Massage at 120,000–300,000 IDR for 60 minutes is the single best value service in Bali. Weekly is affordable in a way it is not almost anywhere else.
- Ice bath and sauna — Canggu has several dedicated recovery studios, 150,000–350,000 a session, with memberships that pay off from about twice a week.
- Physio and sports massage are competent and cheap by Western standards. Worth it if you are surfing daily and your shoulders are complaining.
- Dentists — genuinely good and a fraction of Western prices. People fly here for work.
- Local clinic visit: 200,000–500,000 IDR, fast and competent for the ordinary things.
Good for / skip if
Commit to a monthly membership if: you are staying a month or more, you train three-plus times a week, and you have already visited at peak hour to check it is not full.
Stay on drop-ins if: you are here under two weeks, you like varying studios, or you have not tested the place yet. Always do one drop-in before buying a month — a gym that looks good at 3pm can be unusable at 6pm.
Skip a gym entirely if: you surf daily and your base is the Bukit. The paddling is the training, and the nearest decent gym is a long ride.
The honest negatives
- Open-air gyms are hot. Many Bali gyms are semi-open with fans. Training at 1pm in March is genuinely unpleasant — check whether the weights area is actually cooled before you commit.
- Peak hours are crowded. 7–9am and 5–8pm in Canggu means queuing for racks.
- Quality varies enormously at the cheaper end, particularly equipment maintenance.
- Class booking apps fill fast at the popular Canggu studios — the 6pm classes go a day ahead.
- Membership refunds are rare. If you might leave early, buy the shorter product.
- Insurance and injury: most travel policies cover gym injury but treat surfing and motorcycle injuries very differently. Worth knowing which bucket your activity falls into.
Where the money leaks
This whole category runs on unadvertised pricing, and it is one of the largest recurring leaks in a nomad month. Weekly and multi-class passes 30–50% below drop-ins, available only by asking at the desk. Spa slots in the empty 1–4pm window at 30–50% below the evening price. Three-month prepays at a further 15–25% off. None of it on a website.
The same pattern runs everywhere else in your week — scooters, coworking, villas and bars all price the resident rate below the advertised one.
Last Call Bali tracks what gyms, studios and spas across Canggu, Pererenan, Ubud, Seminyak, Uluwatu and Sanur are discounting right now, with a direct WhatsApp line to the venue. No commission, no booking fee, no card details, and the venue keeps 100% of what you spend.

How this page is verified
Prices come from contacting gyms, studios and spas directly across Canggu, Ubud, Seminyak, Uluwatu and Sanur, cross-checked against what current members report paying, and re-checked monthly. Ranges rather than single figures, because this category is negotiated, seasonal and heavily dependent on which product you ask for. Where a rate exists only at the desk and not online — which in this category is most of them — this page says so rather than pretending the website price is the real one.
