Gym Day Passes in Bali: Prices by Area and When to Stop Buying Them

Weights and racks in a semi-open gym in Canggu, Bali

Short answer: a gym drop-in in Bali is 80,000–150,000 IDR and a monthly membership is 900,000–2,000,000. Three drop-ins a week already costs about the same as a membership; five a week costs nearly double. And almost every gym here has a weekly pass at 400,000–700,000 IDR that appears on no website.

Last checked: 12 August 2026. Prices in Indonesian rupiah. Canggu and Seminyak sit at the top of each band.

Prices by area

Local neighbourhood gyms, anywhere 50,000–100,000 250,000–450,000 600,000–1,200,000

Adjacent categories, because most people mix them:

Activity Drop-in Pass / monthly
Yoga 130,000–180,000 ~100,000–130,000 per class on a pack; 2,000,000–3,500,000 unlimited
Pilates / reformer 200,000–350,000 Class packs 15–25% off
Muay Thai / boxing 120,000–200,000 1,200,000–2,200,000 monthly
CrossFit-style box 150,000–250,000 1,800,000–3,000,000 monthly
Ice bath / sauna 150,000–350,000 Memberships exist — ask

The break-even, in one table

Pattern Drop-ins per month Membership Winner
2×/week 640,000–1,200,000 1,200,000–2,000,000 Drop-ins
3×/week 960,000–1,800,000 1,200,000–2,000,000 About level
4×/week 1,280,000–2,400,000 1,200,000–2,000,000 Membership
5×/week 1,600,000–3,000,000 1,200,000–2,000,000 Membership, clearly

Three times a week is the line. Below it, drop-ins buy you flexibility for the same money. Above it, you are paying a premium for nothing.

The passes nobody advertises

Three of them, and all three are asked for at the desk rather than found online:

1. The weekly pass. 400,000–700,000 IDR against five drop-ins at 500,000–750,000. Modest saving, but it exists at almost every gym and is displayed at almost none.

2. The three-month prepay. Typically another 15–25% below the monthly rate. If you know you are staying, say so at the first conversation rather than renewing monthly three times.

3. The class pack. For yoga, pilates and martial arts, a 5 or 10-class pack cuts 25–40% off the drop-in. This is the single biggest unadvertised discount in the fitness category.

The question is: "Is there a weekly pass or a class pack?" Ask it every time, everywhere.

What a Bali gym is actually like

Things that do not show up in the photos:

  • Many are semi-open with fans rather than aircon. At 1pm in March this is the difference between a session and an ordeal. Check whether the weights area specifically is cooled, not just the reception.
  • Peak is 7–9am and 5–8pm in Canggu, and peak means queuing for racks and benches.
  • Equipment maintenance varies enormously at the cheaper end. Look at the cables and the dumbbell rack, not the paint.
  • Class booking apps fill a day ahead for the popular 6pm slots at the well-known Canggu studios.
  • Membership refunds are rare. If there is any chance you leave early, buy the shorter product.

Always do one drop-in before buying a month, and do it at the hour you would actually train. A gym that looks great at 3pm can be unusable at 6.

By area, honestly

Canggu / Berawa — the best in Bali and not close. Two large commercial gyms, multiple pilates studios, Muay Thai, CrossFit-style boxes, and the island's only real recovery scene (ice baths, saunas, contrast therapy, physio). If training is a serious part of your week, base here.

Ubud — fewer and smaller gyms, but the best yoga on the island by a distance. If your training is mostly mat-based, Ubud is better than Canggu.

Seminyak — decent gyms, fewer than Canggu, and the widest spa and recovery pricing gap.

Uluwatu and Sanur — thin. On the Bukit, surfing does most of the work; in Sanur the flat boardwalk makes running and cycling genuinely good. For anything structured you will ride to Canggu.

Good for / skip if

Buy day passes if: you are here under two weeks, you train twice a week, or you are trying gyms before committing.

Buy the month if: you train three or more times a week, you are staying a month or more, and you have visited at peak hour.

Skip the gym entirely if: you surf daily on the Bukit. The paddling is the training and the nearest good gym is a long ride.

The honest negatives

  • Heat. The single most underrated factor. Train early or find real aircon.
  • Crowding at peak in Canggu.
  • Quality variance at the cheap end, particularly equipment condition.
  • No refunds on memberships if you leave.
  • Injury and insurance: most travel policies cover gym injury but treat surfing and motorcycle injuries very differently — worth knowing which bucket you are in. See healthcare in Bali.

Where the money leaks

This is one of the largest recurring leaks in a nomad month, because it is a purchase you make repeatedly. Weekly passes 30–50% below five drop-ins, class packs 25–40% below drop-ins, three-month prepays another 15–25% off — none of it published, all of it available by asking.

The same mechanic runs through the rest of your week: spa slots in the empty 1–4pm window at 30–50% off, coworking weekly rates below five day passes, scooters and villas priced monthly well below the daily rate.

Last Call Bali tracks what gyms, studios and recovery spaces across Canggu, Pererenan, Ubud, Seminyak, Uluwatu and Sanur are discounting right now, with a direct WhatsApp line to the venue. No commission, no booking fee, no card details, and the venue keeps 100% of what you spend.

How this page is verified

Prices come from contacting gyms and studios directly across all five nomad areas, cross-checked against what current members report paying, and re-checked monthly. Ranges rather than single figures, because this category is negotiated and seasonal. Where a rate exists only at the desk — which for weekly passes and class packs is almost always — this page says so rather than pretending the website price is the real one.
